Schematic view of the AP2 automatic unit

We are well known for being the world leaders in everything that relates to AP2 automatic transmission.  The AP2 first released in 1965 and won the Queens award for technology was designed and manufactured by Automotive Products

We often purchase used "core" AP2 units if you have one or many that you wish to get rid of then give us a call.

I often get asked about driveshafts for classic Mini powertrain swaps from earlier to later units and what is required to do this.

1) the earlier Hardy Spicer drivesahfts are not interchangeable with the later CV (Birfield) joints used on later units.

2) There was a "swap over" period when Rover fitted a knock-in Hardy Spicer unit into later boxes with the standardised differentail unit but earlier case, once these had been used then Rover changed to the Metro case that has the later type driveshafts and larger idler bearing along with all of the upgrades that came with the AP2 unit fitted to the  Metro.
